Engineers

Volunteer Engineers are needed all year round to help keep our engines and pumps in good working order and to operate these on family open-days in steam. Help is also needed in maintaining our displays. There are also opportunities to assist the Engineers; you don’t need to be an expert and full training is provided.

Electricians

The Museum is looking for an electrician to carry out  electrical work, who is also interested in general engineering. The volunteer would need to be flexible as they would not always be needed for electrical work every week.  Commercial and 3 phase experience would be a bonus

Buildings and Grounds Maintenance

We are looking for volunteers to help with DIY, general building and grounds maintenance to keep the Museum’s outside areas neat and tidy. This work is usually carried out on Tuesdays throughout the year. Volunteers will need to be able to work on their own initiative.

Marketing

An experienced marketing volunteer is needed to help promote the Museum. Activities include:  updating the marketing plan, planning advertising and social media activities, supporting our PR work to raise the profile of the Museum, promoting our Steam Days and related events. The role also includes developing marketing communications to enhance links with local and regional organisations including tourism, heritage and schools.
